Living in a big city you forget what the rest of the country is really like. I’ve driven through the back streets of 9 states already on this road trip and it’s clear that the economy doesn’t work the same for everyone. It’s always hard to believe that in a country with so much wealth that there are places truly forgotten. Towns where all the stores on Main Street are shuttered and you can see the harshness of life on the worn faces of the people that live there. These are the back streets of America. Where closed factories and dry farm land are the norm. Where winters seem to be longer and life always harder.
