Day 368_49 BWebDay 368 (January 3, 2014) – Brooklyn, NY

I’m finally back home. Back in Brooklyn. Back in “Do or Die – Bedstuy”.  The two cops were killed just a few blocks away from my apartment. It’s sad.  I’m use to seeing candles burning and makeshift street corner memorials is just about every ghetto. They are all the same…wilted flowers….hand written messages smudged by the weather…..sometimes there are teddy bears and baseball caps or other little tokens of sorrow. And sometimes you’ll see someone paying their respects silently…head down..and deep in prayer.  Today is the wake for NYPD Officer Wenjian Liu and tomorrow he will be buried.  Some in the city will morn the senseless killing of an officer and others will be indifferent. As a city we have a lot of healing to do. As a country we have a lot more difficult work to do. All lives matter.
